Ham and cheese have always been a perfect combo. This great duo is often associated with bread. They are famous pizza toppings (shout out to the Hawaiian pizza lovers out there) as well. Plus, this recipe for ham and cheese bread roll calls for simple ingredients that already might be in your kitchen.
Dissolve yeast in warm water (110- 115°F). Stir to dissolve and let stand from 5-10 minutes until bubbly. Set aside.
15 g Sunstar Instant Dry Yeast, 280 g Water
In a large bowl, combine the milk, sugar, butter, and egg yolks.
150 g HICAPS Buttercream Ref Margarine, 280 g White Sugar, 150 g Mlekovita UHT Milk, 170 g Whole Egg
Blend well then add the yeast mixture.
In a separate bowl, combine remaining dry ingredients.
700 g 1st Class Bread Flour, 300 g All-Purpose Flour, 3 g Superfine Bread Improver, 3 g Mold Check, 15 g Salt
Add flour mixture and wet mixture to make a moderately stiff dough. **Note: Check the consistency of the dough before putting all the remaining flour. (use of flour depends on the type of flour, milk, and the size of the eggs).
The dough should be moderate to stiff and elastic. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes or until the dough is smooth & elastic.
Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for at least an hour.
After rising, transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Use a dough slicer to divide the dough into 2 equal parts.
Shape rolls by rolling into a pizza crust shape. Spread melted butter over the dough. Cut with a pizza cutter into slice shapes. Top with ham and cheese. Roll from outside in.
150 g HICAPS Buttercream Ref Margarine, 360 g Ham, 100 g Quick Melt Cheese
Place rolls on a lightly greased baking sheet or tray with the end of the roll at the bottom.
Cover the tray with a damp cloth and let it rise for 20-30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden on top.
Use a pastry brush to spread melted butter on top. Enjoy!
