Rose Bakeshop: Born Out of 150 Pesos
[Audible Article]
Ms. Rosalina Go, founder and owner of Rose Bakeshop, faced the biggest challenge of her life when she only had 150 pesos left in her pocket. As an ordinary person would, she worried whether she would make it or not.
Determined to pursue her passion, Ms. Rose left Cebu City and moved to Davao City to start achieving her goals. At that time, she barely had enough to buy a boat ticket to Mindanao. However, Rose went to Davao anyway.
Thanks to that big leap, Rose Bakeshop came into being. It was established in 1983 in San Francisco, Agusan Del Sur. During its initial run, the ingredients Rose used to bake bread for her first shop were loaned.
Given this, the bakeshop started small and modest. Success for the bakery did not happen overnight. However, with Rose’s hard work and determination, the bakeshop became bigger and better after a few years.
Rose Bakeshop Owner Rosalino Go: A Fearless Woman
If there’s one thing Ms. Rosalina Go has to be remembered for, it’s being fearless. Rose took a lot of big risks to make her dreams come true. She ventured into different lines of business and made quite a fortune out of them.
However, her heart went back to what she was really into― baking tasty bread. Obstacles may have been in Rose’s career path, but they did stop her. She never doubted herself and her skills― not even once. She believed that one day all her hard work was going to be worth it, and now it is.
As competition rose in the bakeshop industry, Rose did not feel intimidated. Instead, her business expanded. Branches sprouted like mushrooms in different areas of Mindanao. The company expanded into Rose Bakeshop Davao, Rose Bakeshop Digos, and Rose Bakeshop Cagayan de Oro among others.
Eventually, Rose’s children joined forces as the board of directors of Rose Bakeshop. They planned to expand their family treasure in Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon.
With an extremely optimistic attitude, Ms. Rose envisioned her bakeshop as a global brand. She envisioned Rose Bakeshop expanding not just in the Philippines, but to other countries as well.
With a highly determined and focused attitude, Rose expects her partners to have the same values and be as competitive as her. She also expects partners that are persistent and willing to help each other grow to be successful.
HICAPS and Rose Bakeshop Over the Years
HICAPS and Rose Bakeshop have built an amazing relationship over the years. Just like in any partnership, there were challenges faced by both parties. However, they still managed to be on each other’s side.
The Go Family had three things in mind on how to achieve their goals. First is their belief in God. The family always puts God first for them to think peacefully and make the best decisions that will help their company grow.
The second is trusting their own guts. From the start, Rose had been trusting her gut feeling. She had this feeling that one day, she will be successful. She was not wrong. This is a great attitude her children inherited from her. Their guts are the ‘moving will’ that helps them overcome even the toughest of times.
Last is their good values. Ms. Go stated, “We inculcated values in the family members so the employees would look up to us as living testaments. We practice what we teach.”
With these values, Rose Bakeshop has been successful. As of writing, it has 19 branches, all of which are company-owned. Most of their branches are found in the Caraga and Davao regions.
“In any business, what matters most is what your heart is telling you to do. Even if it seems difficult to perceive, if a businessman has the attitude of making his business aligned to his passion, then it would turn out to be fun. When he is passionate about this, then excellence can be achieved.“
